People like to think horses make money.. unless you do it right your just breaking even. In order to succeed you have to spend money just to get you business up to par for the appeal of the peoples eye. With that being said it makes it hard for upcoming businesses to breath.. let alone time to build the business with the rain for the last 6 months!! UGH!!!! SO MUCH MUD... the horses never stay clean, nor does your house with you going out multiple times a day just to check on the horses to make sure they are getting along.
You spend more money on hay due to your horses causing your used to be sweet lush pasture of grass to now mud.. good coastal where we are is located averages $145.. cattle hay is around $100,
say goodbye to savings or vacation money. Cause now your beloved horses now are eating it, 7 horses go threw 1 large bale of good coastal a week. OUCH so now your $145 just multiplied by 4 which now equals $580 a month plus your grain costs. we spend about $60 a week. Luckily for us doing our own farrier services cause that would be $245 every 6 weeks just for a basic trim, plus vet care, horse tack as needed.
